A Stay Designed To Slow The Pace

Walk in and the sapphire wall is there at the end of the hall, gold catching whatever light the day has left.

Guests tell me the same thing - that it feels warm straight away. Less like checking in, more like arriving home.

Every room holds its own temperature: the morning warmth of the kitchen, the cool hush of the bedroom, the open air of the front yard at dusk.

A house built to be felt, not toured.

THE STORY

This Was Our House

The original home at the front of a block I later divided. I kept the part with the character.

It is also the house I lived in with my girls when they were small, and the house I got ready in on my wedding day.

Two feature walls - emerald in the kitchen, dining and family room, sapphire and gold in the lounge. I knew exactly what I wanted and found artists who could do it.

The floors are original, sanded back and left honest. The corbels and leadlight were repaired, not replaced.
