INTRODUCTION

A Stay That Holds The Warmth

Terracotta walls that keep the last of the afternoon, encaustic tile underfoot, and a courtyard that turns gold about an hour before dinner.

Ground floor, with the glass doors open all afternoon.

Iron bedsteads, velvet, a filigree mirror that catches the light from the wrong direction and looks better for it.

Mediterranean without the costume.

THE STORY

Built For A Daughter Who Follows The Sun

I built this complex and kept two of the eight apartments. This one I made with one of my daughters in mind.

She sees beauty everywhere. A collector of moments, a free spirit, a self-taught photographer forever following the sun. Her first book, Soil Speaks, sits in all four properties and is for sale at The Mooring Inn.

So this one is unhurried. Nowhere to be, nothing to do, and the light moving across the terracotta all afternoon.

Heavy textured terracotta wallpaper, encaustic tile, iron bedsteads, and gold filigree against a wall the colour of clay.
